Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme held by Jill at Breaking the Spine to feature upcoming books that we can't wait to get our hands on.
Title: Stolen Songbird
Author: Danielle L. Jensen
Publisher: Strange Chemistry
Date of Release: April 1, 2014
Goodreads Description: For five centuries, a
witch’s curse has bound the trolls to their city beneath the ruins of
Forsaken Mountain. Time enough for their dark and nefarious magic to
fade from human memory and into myth. But a prophesy has been spoken of a
union with the power to set the trolls free, and when Cécile de Troyes
is kidnapped and taken beneath the mountain, she learns there is far
more to the myth of the trolls than she could have imagined. Cécile
has only one thing on her mind after she is brought to Trollus: escape.
Only the trolls are clever, fast, and inhumanly strong. She will have
to bide her time, wait for the perfect opportunity. But something
unexpected happens while she’s waiting – she begins to fall for the
enigmatic troll prince to whom she has been bonded and married. She
begins to make friends. And she begins to see that she may be the only
hope for the half-bloods – part troll, part human creatures who are
slaves to the full-blooded trolls. There is a rebellion brewing. And her
prince, Tristan, the future king, is its secret leader. As
Cécile becomes involved in the intricate political games of Trollus, she
becomes more than a farmer’s daughter. She becomes a princess, the hope
of a people, and a witch with magic powerful enough to change Trollus
forever.
Why am I waiting? Besides Jensen being a Canadian author, I love fantasy and haven't read a book involving trolls yet.
April seems so far away.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of it, but the cover is beautiful! Hope you can stop by mine.
ReplyDeleteI've only ever read Amanda Hocking's series with trolls in it and I didn't really like that one, but Stolen Songbird sounds really good and I love that cover! Great WoW pick!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my WoW picks for this week!
Trolls! That's one set of folks not yet living on my shelves! Good call on that one. The falling-for-her-kidnapper part seems a bit Stockholm Syndrome-like to me, though. ;) Here's my WoW. :)
ReplyDeleteNow this one sounds really intriguing - trolls! I've never read or heard of any fantasy focused on trolls before, and the cover art is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing!

YESSSSSSSS! So very, very excited for this one Z! It has a Labyrinth feel to it and I loved that movie something fierce. Plus, I've always been madly in love with the name Tristan, so I think this book and I are meant to be:)
ReplyDeleteI think it's been a good couple of years since I've read something with trolls in it. I love fantasy too and have heard some good things about this one already. It was just added to NetGalley today I believe and I'm tempted to download it. Hopefully it will be as good as it sounds! Great pick, Z. :)
