Today, for the Top 10 of 2012 Blog Event, we're picking our top ten books we're looking forward to in 2012. I've decided to make a list of books by authors I've never heard of and a separate list for books that are part of a series.
Top Ten Books I'm Looking Forward To By Debut Authors
A fantasy with crime and political intrigue? A novel for fans of Tamora Pierce? Count me in!
Maid of Secrets by Jennifer McGowan
Another fantasy; I added it to my wishlist as soon as I saw "thief," "spy" and "court" in the synopsis.

The Art of Wishing by Lindsay Ribar
This one seems like a cute read, and reminds me of Jackson Pearce's As You Wish.
I love the idea of being able to look into the future and then having to make choices.
This one has a fascinating premise where a girl is subject to the reality created by her parallel self's decisions.
Twin sisters - one with the ability to relive the past and the other with the ability to go forward in time. Where the heck is my ability to time travel?!
Landry Park by Bethany Hagen
"It is supposed to be a cross between "Gone with the Wind" and "Mansfield Park", but set into the future 200 years from now." This better be good!

Zahida, I want to just... HUG your lists! They're so so SO good! Thank you for introducing me to Parallel. That one sounds SO amazing, as does Pivot Point and The Art of Wishing. And your established authors list also sounds incredible. Prodigy (!!!!!), Just One Day (!!!!!), and Apollyon (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). AH! So much excitement!! I just read The Rules today, and I loved it! I hope you do, too, Zahida. :)
ReplyDeleteFans of Tamora Pierce? Ohh, that's me, although I've read a trusted friend's review saying that Cadet of Tildor wasn't all that great unfortunately. Premeditated, The Nightmare Affair and Pivot Point (reading that soon!) all have killer premises. And 17&Gone, YESSS! SO excited!
ReplyDeleteGreat list!
I read an ARC of Cadet of Tildor, but I couldn't finish it. It was so unoriginal and just didn't grip me at all, but hopefully you'll have better luck with it! :) On the other hand, Pivot Point and The Nightmare Affair sound amazing! I can't wait for Just One Day, personally, and I can tell you now that TtEN is AMAZING! :D I loved it! I also can't wait for 17&Gone, The Archived, and Everbound. So. Excited! :D
