Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme held by Jill at Breaking the Spine to feature upcoming books that we can't wait to get our hands on.
Author: Joelle Charbonneau
Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Books for Children
Date of Release: June 4, 2013
Goodreads Description: The Seven Stages War
left much of the planet a charred wasteland. The future belongs to the
next generation’s chosen few who must rebuild it. But to enter this
elite group, candidates must first pass The Testing - their one chance at a
college education and a rewarding career. Cia Vale is honored to be
chosen as a Testing candidate; eager to prove her worthiness as a
University student and future leader of the United Commonwealth. But on
the eve of her departure, her father’s advice hints at a darker side to
her upcoming studies - trust no one. But surely she can trust Tomas,
her handsome childhood friend who offers an alliance? Tomas, who seems
to care more about her with the passing of every grueling (and deadly)
day of the Testing. To survive, Cia must choose: love without truth
or life without trust.
Why am I waiting? I'm not normally a dystopian fan but I love the sound of The Testing, especially the idea of not being able to trust anyone. I also like the two options presented to Cia: "love without truth
or life without trust." I really hope The Testing lives up to my expectations.
I'm really hoping this one lives up to my expectations as well and doesn't end up being just like every dystopian out there. *fingers crossed* :D
ReplyDeleteMy WoW Pick!
I have an ARC of this one. I hope it's good too! I am a huge fan of the dystopian genre.

The premise of this one sounds pretty cool – I think the focus on education/career is interesting. And that "love without truth or life without trust" is indeed a good catchline! :D
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard of this but I'll watch out for it! Just added it to my goodreads ;)

I have some high hopes with this one looking for some good reads
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting, but I'm really choosy about Dystopian books.. Thanks for sharing, though :)

Books That Made Me Think
As a fan of dystopia this sounds brilliant! Great pick. :)
ReplyDeleteI was approved for this on NG, but had to pass because I am swamped. It sounds like a great read and I'm sure I will pick it up soon.
ReplyDeleteMy Wow
I do love dystopian and I haven't seen this one before. I'm adding it to my TBR list right now! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteLiza’s WOW
I just recently received an arc of this and I'm pretty excited about it. I hope I won't be disappointed, it sure wouldn't be the first time. But HMH has great titles, usually, so I'm not too worried.
ReplyDeleteOooo this does sound good doesn't it Zahida? LOVE. It has a Divergent feel to it almost with the testing, but that's not a bad thing in the least given I loved that book. I really like that we can't trust anyone either, that always makes things really interesting:)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds really good, but agree, hope it lives up to the expectations. I hadn't heard of this before but I'm going to add it now. Thanks for sharing Z :)
ReplyDeleteSounds awesome. I really like the sound of this one and I would love to give it a try. Great pick! I hope you enjoy reading it.
ReplyDeleteCome check out my WOW post.
This sounds really good I so hope it's better than the latest dystopians I read (Taken and Teh Ward--BLAAAH!).
ReplyDeleteI'm really hoping this is good! I received a copy recently and can't wait to get started on it. A few of the early reviews have made me lower my expectations slightly, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. Great pick. :)
ReplyDeleteI actually just heard of this one today and immediately added it to be tbr! It sounds so good, and although the dystopian books are starting to blur together, this one definitely stands out to me. I hope it lives up to my expectations as well! I guess we'll have to wait to find out. Fabulous pick, Zahida!
ReplyDeleteHow much does this one sound like The Hunger Games?! I don't know, it sounds awfully derivative to me. But I will keep an open mind until reviews start coming in and I get to see what people have to say about it. I do hope the reviews are good!!
